Hearts and flowers and Love!

Well 3 days and I haven't lot any weight! Well I haven't tried that hard yet. I am breaking myself in slowly!!!!!!!

Here is a card I made using a Tilda, Magnolia stamp which I have coloured with Promarkers. I decided to use blues again. The big heart I have embossed and put on some tiny gems. The flowers are from my stash and the leaves I made with a punch I have had forever. I penned in some faux stitching and distressed the edges of the Papermania, Capsule papers and voila!!!!

I am entering this for:

Passion for Promarkers

Well my son is still talking to me after I used his face to grace the cover of a magazine for the Digital Doodling challenge ( just scroll down to see his face... If you dare!). Well he has always wanted to be famous.
He took it in good spirit so that was good and I did ply him with drinking chocolate. Works every time.

Here is my card for Passion for Promarkers where the colour combo this week is pastel green and blossom. My stamp is from Funky Kits. The papers are Cosmo Cricket and I have embossed the red piece. Flowers are from my stash.
Hope you are all keeping warm. I am frozen!

Digital Doodling: another challenge but with a difference

I stumbled across this great challenge Digital Doodling. It involves putting a photo you have onto the front cover of a magazine. I have used a pic of my son Dan ( I may not be his mother much longer when he sees this!!!). We were in Central Park last summer. Right from a little boy he has always made silly faces when I take photos. This is what you get for messing with mum.
The site you have to visit is 'Magmypci'
The pic can be funny, cute or romantic. Guess which one this is???!!!
The prize is 2 Sugar Nellie stamps.
Are 2 Sugar Nellie stamps worth the loss of my son????? Depends what mood he is in. He is still a teenager after all.
Really would love to read your comments on this one

Simon says - punch it and DT call

This is my second entry for the Simon Says Challenge and DT call. Instead of a card I have made a table decoration using punches. It is my flower cupcake. The case is a Sizzix die. the flowers are held onto a polystyrene ball with pearl headed pins
What do you think of it? I am going to try a few more ideas with this later. I have already told my ladies who come to card class that we will be doing these soon. They seemed to like the idea.

Just Magnolia - Jay Jay's sketch and other challenges

What a great sketch at Just Magnolia . I made this card whilst on the phone to a friend in Swindon who I met at a camp site nearly 40 years ago. Have you ever tried making a card with a phone stuck in your neck? Quite tricky I can tell you
Anyway I think this sketch is lovely and here is my take on it.

My first ever L Letterpress card + Sharons blog candy

I recently bought the new L Letterpress by Quickutz from QVC. I was really excited about out as it gives you professional de-bossed and inked cards. However the reviews are not so good. The idea is great but the elements involved not so good. The "dies" are from quite flimsy plastic which have broken for several people. You don't get any specialist cleaning equipment and the adhesive tape that you stick on the back of the Dies to hold them in place comes of the dies and stays stuck to the plate! Very annoying I can tell you. A good video demo is available here Letterpress tool review
That said and done I am quite pleased with my first card using the background plate and a couple of the individual dies all inked in black ink.
What do you think of it? It's a shame the photo doesn't give justice to the de-bossing, What about my fancy setting!!??!!

Sharon at Gramma's House of Cards is giving away some candy. She now has over 400 followers and has reached a whopping 160,000+ hits. I can only dream of that!!!!

Whiff of Joy GDT call

There is a great sketch at Katharina's blog, and with it is the possibility of being a Guest Designer for 2 months!!!. What a fab chance is that. So I thought I would give it a go. I have entered load of challenges and never won one. So lets see how I do with this one. Actually I love making cards anyway for no particular reason. It stops me causing trouble somewhere else. Thanks for all the comments that i have received. I love reading them

Craft tip of the day #2

When you stamp an image it usually still has some ink left on it.
Keep a packet of Post It notes in your craft box, stamp the inked image onto a piece of Post it note and keep it safely in a box.
You have a ready made stamp mask for when you need it without wasting Ink!!
See my masking tutorial
Happy stamping

Craft tip for the day #1

I have decided to post a daily craft tip ( it might not appear every day)
Today's tip is:
#1. Save money by buying a packet of double sided sticky foam pads ( about 8 sheets) with a roll of double sided foam tape from Poundland ( or similar shop) for £ 1. Each sheet has about 32 foam pads. ( approx 256 foam pads in all)
Cut each pad into between 2 - 6 pieces ( dependant on what you are using it for). This will give you plenty of small foams pads for £ 1 , between 512 and 1536 double sided foam pad. Far better value than if you buy 1 sheet of foam pads from a craft shop for the same money.
You will also still have a whole roll of tape to cut up and use.

I use Fiskars non -stick childrens' scissors as they are half the price of say X Cut adult non - stick scissors. I bought them from Hobbycraft. When I have finished with them I just wipe them over with a hot flannel

happy sticking

Sad News

Sadly today I got the news that a girl Daniel went to junior school with died at the weekend. It wasn't a message I wanted to give Daniel when he got home from work. As you can imagine we were all upset and shocked. All our thoughts and prayers are with her family to help them get through these dark days.
I hope all of you and your families are safe and well

Grungepaper flower tutorial

For those of you who follow my blog you will know that I have said that I will be posting some exciting tutorials. Well here is the first one a flower made from Grungepaper which I bought from Craft Obsessions. It is used by the amazing Tim Holtz who does a lot of altered art. I had the opportunity to watch the man in action at the Trade show at the NEC last year, courtesy of Hotshot crafts. Thank you Sarah. I had a great day there.
This paper is amazing if you haven't come across it yet. Don't mix it up with Grungeboard which is thicker. This paper wont tear or rip but you can cut it with scissors or use it in a Die cutting machine. I use Sizzix Big Shot.
You can also colour it with ink pads, distress inks, stamp on it, emboss it and shape it.

First though I must state that the actual flower tutorial is not my idea. I have merely taken it a step further. The original tutorial is by the amazing Michele Roos.

Below is also a picture of the paper flowers I have made following this tutorial .
At the top of this post are pictures of the flower made with the Grungepaper

So now for the tutorial. There are quite a few pictures to help you through, but it is very easy and I am sure you will agree very affective.
1. The items you will need

2. Using Sizzix flowers die cut out 2 large and 4 small flowers. Draw a circle about the size of a 5p in the middle of each one.
3. I have distress inked both sides of the flowers with a lighter shade of green.
4. I then go around the edges with a darker shade, again on both sides.
5. Stamp whatever you wish onto the flowers. I stamp only on one side and I use Versafine ink. I have used a flourish stamp but a sentiment stamp would be nice too.
6. Cut each petal down to the circle you drew on it earlier.
7. Curl the petals. I use Joanna Sheen long tweezers, but you could use a cocktail stick, or pencil. the grungepaper shapes easily.

8.Turn the flowers over and do the same with the other side of the petal
9. Punch a hole in the center of each flower and layer them up as shown
10. Fix with a brad.

11. You could add Stickles glitter for mare sparkle.

12. You could also add a brooch fitting on the back so that you can wear you creation.

13. Why not attach it to a hat, handbag, pair of shoes or necklace.

If you have other ideas let me know.
So there it is. What do you think?.
It doesn't take long to make. putting on this tutorial took longer than making it!!!!
If you have a go or have any questions let me know. I would love to see your creations.
