Magnolia tissue box

This project came about because I bought Emma a cheap box of tissues for her room. She said because it was red and white she couldn't have the box in her room because it didn't match her colour scheme....shades of brown. So I said if I bought a tissue box blank and covered it would that be better. She said yes. So we spent a while looking through my papers and finally she decided on the one I eventually covered the box with. Some cream lace and a few flowers later and the box was finished. She wants one toput on her desk at work now!!!!!!. Kids! Don't you just love 'em!

Magnolia seed packet

Thought I would show you a little project I made recently. It is a seed packet for a friend who loves her garden. I thought I would put in a mixture of wild flowers seeds to encourage the butterflies to her garden.
It was very quick and easy to make. Cutting Tilda out took the longest time.
I think it is a nicer way to give seeds as a little gift than in a boring seed packet.(although it may be an idea to put growing instructions in the packet too.!!!)
If you have a go at making one I would love to see it

Magnolia wedding card

Over at Creative Inspirations the theme is "Sepia" and it just happens that I have made a card for some friends who are getting married it. I think it will be okay for the challenge.
I have cut the base with my long Nesties and then layered it. The Magnolia wedding image is partly coloured with Promarkers. Hotshot crafts have just had a huge delivery so get them quick as they keep flying. Finally I have added a small spray of flowers. I just felt I wanted to keep the card fairly simple.
I do hope my friends like it.
Happy crafting

Magnolia..flowers

Well I am off to the NEC tomorrow for the Trade show to see if those lovely people at Ellison (Sizzix) will put together a nice deal so that I can open up my web shop and sell their wonderful dies. Now i am not saying that I have a Sizzix addiction but I do have over 200 dies!
I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for all the lovely comments about Emma's Jewelry. She has already had two orders!!.The long necklaces she is selling at £12.99. You can get similar ones from some of the well known stores for £17 - £20 so I think hers are quite reasonable.  We bought some more beads and findings from Hobbycrafts today. But they are so expensive. If any one out there in craft land knows of any cheaper bead outlets please let me know.

Now on to my Totally Gorjuss DT card. Our theme this week is "Flowers", and again the girls have come up with some great cards. Don't forget the DT call ends tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone who has entered my first blog candy so far. Goodness. It's so exciting!!!
Have a great weekend. I am now off to help Emma look for MORE beads on the internet!!!

My daughters jewellry

I have tried for years to get my daughter Emma into card making but she stubbornly refuses. she doesn't know what she is missing!
Anyway we decided to have a go at some jewelry  and I posted my first bracelets a couple of days ago.
So I thought it would only be fair to show you what Emma has made.
It ended up a family affair as she got her dad involved drilling holes in some of the beads so that she could thread them easier. This was at 12:30 p.m!!!!
Daniel had gone to bed upset as he had just found his pet mouse dead in its cage.
I think she has done a great job. In the past 2 nights she has made 3 necklaces and 3 bracelets. I hope she doesn't get too addicted. I can't afford all the beads!!!!. Perhaps I should put out a call for "send your old beads to a new home"!

Keeping it simple

Over at Papertake weekly the challenge is "check this out". So any thing with checks. like ginghams will do. The card I have made is a very simple one. I have used 2 different Spellbinders Pendant dies. The Background paper is from the Papermania Capsule black collection. The water lily is from The Greetings Farm Me - time Anya. Hotshotcrafts only have a few left..It has been coloured with Promarkers.
Finally I have used Glossy accents on the lily which you can actually see on the photo!
Please let me know what you think of this

I am entering this card for

Bracelets

Just for a change I thought I would have a go at some jewelry. Now I must warn you that this is my first attempt so please be kind to me. I really enjoyed making these bracelets. The only problem was trying to find the little hole in the bead!!!!!! At one point I could have thrown them all out of the window. Anyway they are finished and I am pleased with them. I can't wait for the junior girls at school to see them. I always wear jewelry to school and usually a big flower too. ( I have about 12 of them) and they love to see what I am waering each day. In fact if I go a day with no jewelry ( or make - up) they tell me off!!!!!! The little darlings
Love to know what you think

p.s. sorry about the quality of the photos. I am not a very good photographer!

Shabby Chic flowers

 Hi everyone
well It's half way through half term and I have had a great time just crafting!!!!. I did do a bit of housework though.
Here is a card I made with my Saturday and Tuesday classes. These flowers are so easy to make and use up all those scraps of papers we crafters can't bear to throw away.
On Saturday I had 5 in class and every card was different.
How to make these flowers
  • I cut various size circles with my Nesties and Sizzix die.
  • I used my paper edge distress to roughen up the edges of the circles.
  • At this stage you could use distress inks on the edges of the circles.
  • We did some Faux stitching around the edge of each circle then scrunched up all the circles in the palm of our hands.
  • Then we flattened them out and layeerd them on top of each other
  • We put a brad in the centre to hold the circles together and then stuck them to the front of our card.
  • Finally we cut a thin strip of cardstock to use as a stem
There are lots of variations to the flowers and stem and any leaves you may want to add.

Hope you have a go making these and post them on your blog so that we can all see your creations
happy crafting

Tri- Shutter card Tutorial

I had a lot of lovely comments when I recently posted a Tri- Shutter card that I made for a teacher at school.
One or two asked for a tutorial. So here it is. And it is EASY.
The basic item you will need are
  • scoreboard
  • ruler
  • craft knife
  • pencil
  • bone folder
  • Cardstock 6" x 12" ( I use 1 piece of scrapbook cardstock and cut it in half.. I can now make 2 Tri-shutter cards)

1.  Score the card at 2", 4", 8" and 10"

2. Turn the card a quarter turn and measure 11/2" top and bottom  ( this is at the 2" and 10"  scorings) as in diagram. I have joined these 2 markings with a red pen. Cut along these lines.

3. Now fold the card with valley and mountain folds. The picture should help. I always think of the Okey -Cokey. You know the one .....In, out, in, out.......!

 4.Now decorate each panel.

5. Your card is now ready for you to embellish.

I would love to hear how you get on with this and would love to see your creations
